Dubai, January 21 – The much-anticipated Bengali film ‘Khadaan’, starring superstar duo Dev and Jisshu Sengupta, is set for its global premiere this Friday in Dubai. For the first time, the two actors will come together for an international premiere, making this a special treat for their fans.
Extensively shot against the backdrop of Bengal’s coal mines, this film tells a poignant story of rebellion, power struggles, and friendship between two workers in the Damodar Valley coal mines as they strive to change their fates along with the destinies of their fellow workers.
Released in Indian theatres in December, this gripping drama is the fourth-highest-grossing Indian Bengali film of all time, featuring stellar performances, captivating storytelling, and unforgettable music.
“We’re thrilled to bring the cinematic magic of Bengal to Dubai’s vibrant cultural scene. Our opening show at 6 PM on January 25 sold out within minutes, which is why we’ve added another show on the same day,” said Sudip Saha, spokesperson for GEM Enterprises, who helped bring the film to the UAE. He added, “We have previously showcased Bengali films such as Projapoti, Aparajito, and Kacher Manush in Dubai to an overwhelming response. But this screening of ‘Khadaan’ is truly a historic moment for us, as the film has united cinema lovers across borders and worldwide, celebrating the rich heritage of Bengali cinema. And one big reason is the coming together of two of Bengal’s biggest stars in Dubai”
Produced by GEM Enterprises, the global premiere will be held at Star Cinema (Al Ghurair Centre) in Dubai, with two scheduled shows – at 6pm, which is already sold out, and 6.30pm.
The film stars Dev in a dual role alongside Jisshu Sengupta, known for his performances in ‘Manikarnika’ and ‘Piku.’ Other pivotal roles are played by Barkha Bisht, Idhika Paul, Anirban Chakrabarti, John Bhattacharya, and Sneha Bose. The movie also marks Dev’s debut as a creative director and his return to the action genre after several years.
